Well these simple thoughts are so helpful and had me chewing on them all day yesterday and still today… posthaste, playful, punny… see what I did there? Basically I want the same things out of my art!

I love this game! The word “playful” comes to mind first. Playful, energetic, and slightly silly!

Slow, Careful, premeditated! This is what I need to keep telling myself. I sometimes start of slowly and carefully but before I know it I start rushing to the finish line like Usain Bolt. And then I'm really upset with myself and the work because it looks rushed and sloppy. So now I sometimes I play live streaming of people drawing and use them as pace setters. So 'slow, careful and premeditated' is not my motto yet but when I manage to stick to it I'm so pleased with the work I produce.

A finished page is an invitation for a new one. Keep on going and enjoy!

I think it was actually a build up, i spend 200 hours trying to write a game, 300 hours making comics then countless hours building a kidlit portfolio, it was while creating a character, that I realized: THIS IS ME! ... the motto was an attempt to bottle that, and it’s worked well ever since. I wish it was as catchy as yours tho! :)

I've had a motto for the past couple of years, and it has been my compass, I make witty and energetic illustrations with a comics sensibility ( which means I use my comic geek knowledge to make my illustrations)
