I can’t speak for all editors and art directors but I love it when I find illustrators with range and I also love it when they have a style that fits with our team’s vision for a project. All of your birds show technical skill paired with creativity and that always makes me happy to see!
Ahh thank you! What nice words about my work! I am bolstered! 💪 That's nice to hear that you like to see range. I can definitely get in my head about being too all over the place.
Woot! It must feel so great to have accomplished your purposeful practice! I love them both, but I feel like that wood stork is going to stick in my mind... especially because you made the connection with your name. :) Thank you so much for sharing, and I can't wait to see your guided background practice!
It does feel good! I'm usually not that great at completing challenges. ha And yes a stork was perfect, can't believe it was a random pick! Figuring out how to structure the background practice now—it's a little more complicated, but we'll get there!
I feel you on something being too quick and easy and feeling like it must require more effort. I’m learning to be good w it but it feels counter to my expectations for myself. Great post and fascinating self-assigned project. Love this kind of stuff 💪
Ugh right! Is it some form of self sabotage? ha My "fast, funny, fun" motto has helped me embrace it more, but still it's hard to feel like I did "enough" sometimes. Whatever that means.😅 I'm glad you liked the challenge! Working on parameters for the backgrounds round next! It's becoming more complicated than I originally thought it would be...🙃
Love this project!

The Marc Boutavant one is blowing my mind!
Ha! Thanks! I couldn't decide how I felt about that one for a while. But with some time, I can say I like it!

This is an amazing challenge idea!
Thank you! I can't believe it's finished. ha! On to round two—backgrounds!
Ah! Your footnote! Yes! I feel that problem too.
I'm glad and also sorry that you can relate! haha
